Providing life-saving care for Egypt's working horses and donkeys

Egypt Equine Aid provides free veterinary care to the hardworking horses and donkeys of Egypt. Our team of experienced veterinarians, farriers and animal welfare support team work tirelessly to ensure animals brought to our vet clinic to receive the medical attention they need. From emergency treatments to preventive care, we offer a comprehensive range of free services to improve the health and well-being of working equines.

Our essential vet services

Egypt Equine Aid is dedicated to providing free, life-saving veterinary services. Our mission is to ensure that these hardworking animals receive the care they need, from emergency treatments to routine health check-ups. With a strong reputation for helping animals, our team of experienced veterinarians, farriers and volunteers work tirelessly to save lives and alleviate suffering, reaching out to as many animals as possible.

Dental Care

Dental work is a very important part of the routine and emergency care EEA provides. UK dentist Eric Cleary was the first to bring electric dental gear to EEA and provide expert training to our staff back in 2018 since then we have had refreshers by visiting vets and dentists but our assistant Mahmoud is always the star pupil and has now become our resident dentist supervised by our vets.

Farrier work

Egypt Equine Aid offers free farrier work to help maintain the hoof health of working horses and donkeys in Egypt. Proper hoof care is essential for the well-being and performance of these animals, as many suffer from poor conditions due to a lack of resources and knowledge. Our farriers perform trimming, balancing, and shoeing to prevent lameness and other hoof-related issues. This service, like all others provided by Egypt Equine Aid, is offered free of charge to owners.

Comprehensive medical treatments

Our vet clinic is well equipped to diagnose and treat a wide range of internal and external medical conditions such as colic, tetanus, traffic accident victims, lameness, dystocia (birthing difficulties), rabies, fractures, skin and hoof diseases, eye problems, parasitic and infectious diseases to name a few. We also perform field surgeries such as castrations, wound repair and enucleation (eye removal). Every day, patients are brought to us in need of urgent care and our dedicated team works around the clock to provide the best possible outcomes.

Sadly, euthanasia is a big part of our vet work but is always merciful and carried out with dignity and respect. While we can’t save every animal, we are committed to doing everything we can to treat and rehabilitate those we can.

Our Training Centre

Our training centre stands as a beacon of hope, with vets working tirelessly to improve the lives of countless animals.

Community education and outreach

Beyond treatments, we educate owners on best practices for equine care, especially after we have rehabilitated them to return to their owners. We conduct community outreach programs to educate owners on proper animal care and management. We distribute essential equipment like nosebands, fly masks, halters, humane bits, and harness pads to help keep animals injury-free and healthy. Our goal is to empower owners with the knowledge and tools they need to ensure the long-term health of their animals.

Right now horses and donkeys are enduring terrible suffering. Please help EEA put an end to this.
